A Tree for Hawthorne House
All Souls Youth are leading our Souls on Mission effort this season. Please join us by selecting an ornament from the tree by the front door, purchasing & wrapping the indicated gift for a Hawthorne House resident, and bringing it to All Souls by Sunday, December 17. Check out our website to learn more about Souls on Mission.
Daily Prayer
Pick up an Advent to Epiphany Daily Prayer Booklet and the monthly companion flyer, December Lectionary Readings and Collects, from our literature rack by the front door or print your own. Visit our prayer web page for other prayer resources, including intercessions for the Souls and resources from the Book of Common Prayer.
O Antiphons
We invite the Souls into the spiritual practice of reciting or singing the O Antiphons during the Octave of Christmas, December 17–29. An antiphon is a brief sentence of praise from Scripture that is sung or said before a Psalm or Canticle. Each O Antiphon highlights a title for the Messiah taken from the prophecy of Isaiah.
Since the early church, these Antiphons have been recited preceding the Magnificat during Evening Prayer, but they can be recited any time each day before Christmas Eve as a group or individual meditation on the Incarnation, during daily or family devotions, or even before Grace and the lighting of the Advent Candle at dinner. Click to print for home use. Copies are also available at church.
Jesse Tree
Whether you use a Jesse Tree in your home during Advent, or if you would simply like to engage with the biblical narrative during this season, check out each of our Jesse Tree blog posts.
Each post includes the reading for that day in Advent as well as an image to print and use on your own Jesse Tree. These images will be available in the literature rack and at the St Nicholas celebration. Or print the whole set at home.
