Jesus the Bread of Life

All Souls Lenten Silent Retreat

March 3-4 • 7p-7p

Cardinal Stritch Retreat House

Mundelein, IL

The path towards Christian virtue is the path of allowing Christ to enlarge our souls with his life. St. Teresa of Avila used the metaphor of the garden to describe the Christian soul. The cardinal and theological virtues are the flowers–but the water by which they live is prayer and devotion.

What is sorely needed to water our gardens is a place to find rest, a place to turn off our phones, and find joy in prayer and seeking God together. This is the Anglican spiritual tradition of retreat.

Come to a place of beauty and prayer, a retreat center nestled in the woods of Lake County overlooking St. Mary’s of the Lake. For this retreat, we will meditate together upon John, chapter 6 to water our souls with God’s Word and feast upon the Spirit of God. This retreat will feature an evening and day of silence as well as community lectio divina, the Divine Offices, and a closing celebration of the Eucharist.

Check-in is between 4-7p on Friday. Dinner at 6p is an option in the Retreat House dining room. The retreat will begin at 7:30p. There will also be plenty of time for private rest, reflection, and prayer either in your private room/prayer cell, the chapel, or walking in the woods. We will gather together in our own private “catacomb” in the lower level of the retreat center for our community worship, prayer, and eucharist.
