The Vestry is the lay leadership body of the church. There are nine members, each serving three-year terms. Each January, three members roll off, and three members are elected for a new three-year term. Under the photos below, Vestry members are identified as Year 1, Year 2, or Year 3 of their term.
Cristy Marchis and her husband, Dorel, have worshiped at All Souls since 2004. She’s grateful to be raising her children (Charley, Caroline, and Annalouisa) in the faith with your love and support. Around All Souls, Cristy serves in Children’s Worship and with the Seasons for Souls team. Cristy also loves connecting with All Souls’ talented artists to bring beauty into our midst. When she’s not at All Souls, Cristy loves spending time with her family camping, hiking, watching movies, and playing volleyball. She finds clarity, stillness, and God’s presence through practicing yoga, running, going for walks, and meditating.
Sean McCarthy has been attending All Souls for over 16 years, having attended St. Marks, Glen Ellyn prior to that. This is Sean’s first term on Vestry and he is now starting a second year as Junior Warden. Sean has been married to Ann for 35 years, and his children Conor and Katie have enjoyed participating in our youth program during their younger years. Sean works in technology security governance, and is looking forward to traveling again once the world is a little safer.
Amanda Brandimore began attending All Souls while in college, in 2014. She has enjoyed many facets of the All Souls community including working with youth, worshipping with Sprouts, and finding a sense of family in house group. Amanda serves as the Trauma-Informed Advocate for the Vestry. After teaching high school art for three years in Chicago, Amanda is now in a Master’s program at Wheaton College in clinical mental health counseling, looking toward an internship in Summer 2021. When she is not working or studying, Amanda enjoys time in nature, fellowship with friends, voraciously reading, and making art or music.
Brad Cathey was confirmed into the Anglican Communion in 1992 and has been at All Souls since 2008. Most of you know him as greeter, chalicer, reader, webmaster, and verger. He now feels called to serve you as a vestry member during this pivotal time at All Souls. On the personal side, Brad has been married to Kathy for 43 years, has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Career: 43 years as self-employed graphic designer. Interests: music, literature, film, and aviation.
Jason Long has been attending All Souls since moving to Wheaton from Maine in 2011. He teaches Economics at Wheaton College. At All Souls, he has served as a reader and usher and has taught the 1st-3rd grade Sunday School class. Once we’re all back together on Sunday mornings, you’ll see Jason in the pews with his wife, Heidi, and two daughters, Maya and Lucy. After the service, you may see him talking with a philosopher/fly fisherman, trying to figure out where they’ve been catching trout lately.
John Mezera joined All Souls in 2005, after attending St. Mark’s, Glen Ellyn. He has been married to Karen for 43 years. They have two sons: one married with two children, and the other engaged. This is John’s 2nd term serving on Vestry. He also served All Souls for many years as Facilities Manager and Assistant Treasurer, along with being involved with the construction of our altar, nave lighting, and many other projects. John has a degree in electrical engineering, and is now retired after a long career at Motorola/Nokia in telecommunications product development. John & Karen enjoy spending time with family and friends, and traveling whenever possible.
Sarah Stanley is grateful to be in her fourth year at All Souls, having moved to the area the year before to serve as a librarian at Wheaton College. She joined an Episcopal church in 2000 (where Interim Bishop Minns was the rector!), was confirmed in 2003, and has been an enthusiastic Anglican ever since. A PK (pastor’s kid) with a master’s degree in spiritual theology from Regent College, she firmly believes that laity play a vital role in the flourishing of a church. When asked to consider serving on vestry, she felt like it was a matter of being faithful to the call to laity to help the church and to her past training and experience. She very much covets your prayers, is grateful to be able to work with the incredible folks on vestry, and is looking forward to seeing what God does this coming year at All Souls.
Sarah Williams has been attending All Souls since 2011. She and her two boys, Finn and Ollie, have enjoyed connecting with many in the All Souls’ community over the years through children’s worship, youth group, various small groups and book clubs, and many gatherings in the backyard throughout the last year. Sarah works as a CPA at Wipfli, LLP specializing in the investment partnership industry and providing solutions for alternative investment fund clients. Sarah is enjoying serving as Treasurer for the church with the assistance of the finance team. She also loves it when she can get a chance to garden, learn more about contemplative prayer or spend time with family and friends.
